"Bush and Cheney: arrested for gross violations of international and U.S. law!" A new proposal in the township of Brattleboro, Vermont -- authorizing local law enforcement to arrest Bush and Cheney -- would make this headline a reality, should either of them step inside the town's jurisdiction. The Brattleboro proposal is to be voted on in the coming weeks at a town hall meeting. The proposal is up for discussion thanks to the hard work of community activists, who petitioned citywide to have the motion put to a vote. Fearful of the indictment, Bush and Cheney are mounting a counteroffensive. But in town after town in Vermont, the people have voted to support impeachment recognizing that Bush and Cheney have committed high crimes and misdemeanors.
The Brattleboro indictment of Bush and Cheney is reflective of the tide of opposition to the current administration. The people of this country are refusing to let Bush leave office without facing charges for his criminal deeds. Just yesterday, the New Hampshire State House held an impeachment hearing, which was flooded by activists and community members insisting that the state legislature take action. Hollywood actor Ed Asner wrote a letter for the hearing expressing his support for the resolution, which indicts Bush for "invading Iraq without just cause or provocation."
We are keeping the pressure on and "impeachment" has become a household word. We are mobilizing the impeachment movement for the anti-war actions on the 5th anniversary of the war. We are lobbying Congress. We are taking out impeachment advertisements. We are telling the courageous people of Brattleboro that they speak for millions more. We are telling the New Hampshire activists who filled the State House yesterday that people from the other 49 states stand with them.

Mr. Chaney, your blog and opinions in your profile make me truly sick. You act like right wingers are the only evil people in the world and that somehow the 2000 election was a scandal, both opinions are nothing more than conspiracies that are used to make political points. You mention that there should be surveillance of extreme right wing groups. How about extreme left wing groups that want to give the federal government the power to control things like where people walk? You say in the blog entry that bush and chaney should be arrested for their high crimes and misdemeanors. However, i would like to know one thing that they have done that could be grounds for impeachment based on United States law. Not only this, you say they have commited crimes. Last time I checked, being bad politicians is not a crime. I know that bush is not a saint. But to go on the web and whine about the situation so that you can be praised as a smart and witty blogger is a cheap act. Why dont you debate with the right wing and present your arguement with reason and articulacy instead of making cute little hippie slogans on your blog? People like you are the reason thought and reasonable political theory are so screwed up, because you are just manufacturing current opinions into cheesy and inane statements. I hope that you and Cindy Sheehan, who uses grief and theories to exploit the political system just like you, have a great life together. Oh, the 60s are over my friend(i.e. your song Feels so bad: the Bush Years). Protest songs are for people from RENT, not articulate americans.

Once again "anonymous" you refuse to look at the facts. Rightwingers may not be the "only" evil people in the world, but they do happen to be the evil people that are ruining this country. Do I have to remind you that when Clinton was president we had a SURPLUS? Please read carefully " I didn't say that the 2000 election was a scandal" I said "The 2000 and 2004 elections were scandals. When I say this I give you specific examples like the caging that Katherine Harris was responsible for. Monica Gooding admitted to doing this under oath. Do you believe it is lawful to disenfranchise thousands of minority voters because they have the same last name as someone who committed a crime? DO THE RESEARCH, LOOK IT UP! There is no left wing group that is responsible for over 4,000 American soldiers dying in Iraq. There was no left wing group responsible for the record numbers of foreclosures that are taking place around the country. They have very little influence and less money. Bush and Cheney should be arrested for high crimes and misdemeanors. They make Richard Nixon look like a boy scout. You wanted me to mention the Bush/Cheney crimes, O.K. you just wanted me to mention "One". I would love to mention all of them but I can't because I don't have enough time or space, but I will mention a few.
1) Endangering the life of a government agent (Valerie Plame), only because her husband denied the existence of a deal between Niger and Iraq for yellowcake uranium.
2) Forcing the EPA administrator
Christine Todd Whitman to declare that it was safe for people to return to work after 9/11. As a result of this monumental blunder thousand of first responders have died or either continue to suffer from respiratory diseases.
3) VP Richard ChEney held "secret" meetings to set energy policy. When asked to report to the General Accounting Office he refused to do so. It is believed that energy policy was set with leaders of the oil industry.
4) (This should really be #1)
George W. Bush lied to the American people about the existence of weapons of mass destruction. Forcing the country to go to war under false pretenses.
As a result over 4,000 US soldiers are and over a million Iraqi civilians.
5) The Bush Administration fired several Attorneys General only because they were Democrats.
6) George W. Bush sat on his hands while New Orleans was ravaged by the effects of Hurricane Katrina. The almost perfectly intact housing was destroyed to make room for new housing for mainly moderate and upper income families
7) Through signing statements George W. Bush has been able to negate previous agreements.
8) The Bush administration gave no bid contracts in Iraq and New Oleans. There was no accountability and as a result billions of US taxpayer money was lost.
Those are just a few. I could go on and on but I have other things to do today. Being a bad politician is not in itself a crime but when it results in loss of life then it IS a crime.
